New EGA Classes

The new NeedleArts was in the mailbox today.  As I opened the plastic wrap to begin reading it, I noticed the 2009-2010 Education Catalog was on the back side.  The cover art certainly caught my attention.  It is The Last Fall stitched by Carol Lynn Stratton who is the Consultant for the 2009 Challenge/Challenge with a Twist.  The Last Fall  is a embroidered tree with glittering crystals for leaves, some still on the tree and many lying at its feet.  This beautiful piece of art encourage me to immediately dig in to the new catalog.  I was not disappointed.

I saw three different Independent Study Courses that I would like to take.  Constraints of time and finances will only allow for possibly one.  The classes under consideration are: A Basic Study of Schwalm Embroidery; Introduction to Metal Thread Embroidery; Silk and Metal Threads on Canvas I: An Introduction; and Silk and Metal Thread Embroidery.

Then there are the Correspondence Courses.  I actually pulled out a sticky note pad to mark the pages with the ones in which I am interested.  There are 7 pages marked for 8 different courses.  Those choices are: Molly, A Dimensional Bear; Angelina: Italian Drawn Thread; Dresden Kitty (pulled thread white work); More Options in Hardanger; Tiramisu (reversible blackwork); White Queen (pulled and drawn thread white work); Fantasy Rembered (stumpwork); Summer Dream (stumpwork); and Japanese Temari.

I am very excited about these offerings and hope that others throughout the Guild are as well.

Ironically, I had put it aside with the other mail when I brought it in as we had errands to run.  At one of the stores I ran into a fellow chapter member I had not seen in awhile.  Barbara and chatted about our families then discussed the difficulties our chapter is facing.  There was also a brief discussion on the offerings of EGA versus those of ANG.  I must say that EGA has reacquired my attention.
